Dr. Goodall changed the world with her early research on chimpanzees, our closest-living relative. And observing chimpanzees in the wild taught Jane about the interconnectedness of all things; how animals, people, and the environment all affect one another. As a result, she helped spark global interest in "community-centred conservation" - an approach to conservation that addresses the needs of local communities, wildlife, and ecosystems so that all can harmoniously coexist. JGI Canada is the Canadian Chapter of the global Jane Goodall Institute. Founded in 1977, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a world-wide community-centred conservation organization that advances the vision and work of Dr. Jane Goodall in over 30 countries.
